It was when I first reached Delhi way back in 2004 I first heard Mother`s Day. Then on,mother`s Day always breaks me up. The message are everyplace to tell my mother how much I love her. But I can`t, except in my thought and heart. I dread the day seeing mothers and daughter/son together but today I had a thought….I`m going to write a poem for my mothers then I feel like i am participating in mother`s Day.

As a child, I always thought that mothers were simply mother.In my young mind, I never thought that my mother will make a huge sacrifices for my sake. Oh..! Mother,you are just great. Your life(Motherhood) has a way of sneaking up on you. One day, you talk about going to the doctor and buying medicine. But the next day you never buy the medicine and visit the doctor because budget is limited and soyou think it is better that we get our need first,pay our school fee, e.t.c and save for us incase we get sick,dishes are spilling out of the kitchen sink,we color all the wall,fight each other,lost our sock and books.Because of the ever growing responsibility, you begin pushing your need further down on the list.Eventually, you are just trying to make it through another day without losing your temper or mind. That is no way to live.And deep inside,you know that.You are once the great singer and choir groups,you leads your friends like the four angels-Haute, chochong and all.You once shine like them. But now you can`t stop long enough to catch your breath. Why ? For my sake. Oh.! Mom you are just great.

Yes,mother are everything for us.When we are small..Our lives revolves around her. For everything we need we call mother. To protect us from all danger we want her around us. To kiss away our wound we run to her. But mother are the one on whom we put our blame for all our failures thought she wouldn`t miss a slightest opportunities to praise and encourages us. It is tought how she borne our temper tantrums when we were a teenagers.And how hard we must have made her life behaving so rude and difficult. Mother day is the right time to apologies for all the trouble and suffering we gave her.So be it..!

Today,the world would honour mother. Our church will be recognizing and honoring mother on this special day. Some would honor mother for their sacrifices for the family. For mother it will be a wonderful day of celebration and the most joyous day of their life. Mother`s day,however, is a painful day for mother who are childless.They will receives a gift warmly from someone childs. But deep within their heart they are sad,wish if it is their own children. For those struggling with infertility, this is one of the most dreaded days of the year so be sure to be sensitive this mother`s day to those who are in pain and hurts. There are many couple around us who are struggling to have children’s ,this we don`t know about. I leave you with these concluding remarks. Say a prayer for them as they face the daily heartbreak that accompanies such a loss. And lastly,for all mother I sing " Ka tun ngai ken milthei ngai lou,ahing vaiha na aw nem nou khu..ka tun ka ngai ka gel doh chiang ka siang a um bang in ngai ing…"

BANDH- STOP THE SILENT KILLERS

Manipur `jewel of India ` said Jawaharlal Nehru,the first Prime minister of India . For Him,it may be the landscape, the multi-culture that exist or our thought that determine us as entities. However, what will Nehru say if he is to comment again this insurgency-torn Manipur. On the law and order front, Manipur has earned itself the titles of being the `worst state` in the country. The chief minister Ibobi has been the most controversial Chief minister,who has handled(or miss-handled) the maximum bandhs,agitation and blockades,making unfulfilled promises to negotiate.

A recent report published in the Imphal free press gives us an idea of the total numbers of ultras in Manipur. Imagine,more than 20 UG outfits operating in our state Manipur.They UG one way or the other disrupted the state functioning and ‘halt’ public life. Again,the student bodies,different organization who resorted to bandh to demonstrate it`s own anger against the government. How many precious day has been lost ? Do bandh make us achieved our goal.? Did it really gave us development.?

In an ethnocentric place, should resorting to bandh be entertained? Bandh are the most peaceful means of demonstrating public anger against a public outrage or nuisance. They are also the most effective means of focusing public attention on issue of national concern.That should be ideal. But what happen really ? Bandh bring life to a standstill. The result is total disruption of normal life. It is a silent killer of economy,education and unity. In this context, are bandh the most effective means of resolving public or national issue ? And when they came one too many,don`t they lose their purpose?

For what is a bandh in effect ? A total close-down of education(school and colleges),commercial and creative activities. All public services, barring essential ones,get disrupted. Life came to a standstill. For the individual wage-earner, rickshaw-puller and vegetables vendors, in addiction to hardship, it means a loss of the day`s wages or one day hunger. For business house and trader it is a loss of one day`s business or production which converted into hard cash runs into lakhs of rupee. For our nation,it is a loss of man hours.

When so much is at stake in a bandh,why should we resort to it so frequently, so often ? I fthe purpose is to find solution to our issues plaguing us,then bandh are not the answer for four solid reason. First,it is a passive response to a crisis because “it fail to generate and mobilize social energies or focus public concern in a positive way. Second,our politician got used to (calling) bandh that often they do not back up bandh and never heed it. Third, a bandh is an expression of frustration and helplessness rather than of active concern diverted at achieving specific result. Last, a bandh “offer a false substitute for positive action,a ritualistic escape route,a way of evading issues,not facing them squarely”.

What,then,is required is a positive alternative that can motivate the people to be active participants in the fight against such issues as landmines,rapecase,killing,corruption sixt-scheduled etc. And this can be done by organizing public education campaigns against issues of general concern.

In conclusion I may say that let`s bandh the silent killer and find a new way of demonstrating our anger. With an antagonism Chief minister in Manipur,bandh would not execute our goal(Issue). We call bandh and make our poor section suffer, to evade our issue the government negotiate, it is the same history that repeat “an economy bankrupt of corrupt government unfulfilled promise”

Politics and Religion-Preach politics in the Church

According to common perception,a huge gulf exists between politics and religion.Apparently,no doubt,politics deal with things which is generally a conglomeration of untruth,power,and crafty manoeuvres,ethic, which acording to me,means faith in the higher impulse of life,in necessary. Where as religion is based upon abstract ideals and truth. Politics implies plan/strategy,religion involves faith. Religion is basically a matter of instinct and politics that of reason. But these are the broad characteristics of politics and religion which have meeting places also- and the first meeting places is in the human mind and nature themselves. It is the human mind which proves facts,make plan and start believing in them and it is the mind which nurtures faiths. So,it is necessary to make their co-existence feasible.

However,we consider politics as involving the recognition and conciliation of opposing interest within a given unit of rule,and religions as the root of most of the profound and permanent values of life,we cannot quiet dismiss the idea of the relationship between politics and religion out of hand. Indeed, our problem today arises because we are possing the wrong questions. The question should not be whether religion and politics are related to each other,but what should be their precise relationship.?

The Bible deals in politics,there is a fight for supremacy between two nations,in the New testament there is the Roman politics and the divided Jew’s politics. Even God involves in election means appointed the king and leaders,give law and commanded the people to obey the law. It is clear from the Bible that without good politics, no nation prosper,no religion expands. Englighten and respected political leaders- Gandhi or Maulana Azad-claimed to draw inspiration from religion,and demanded separate homeland for it. Gandhi considered the ethical values imbuing every religion to be an important part of politics; that was what he means when he said that politics divorced from religion becomes debasing. Religion to Gandhi did not mean sectarianism. It implied a belief in ordered moral government of the universe. In this sense,religion is much more than a matter between man and his maker ; It is apart from a mode of worship,also a set of ideas and values.

In the west much blood has been shed on account of theoligical differences which automatically engaged the politician and the state. Europe has a history of domination of Pope over the state and even now Christian political parties exist in many countries. When the west and European countries related politics and religion so much and when the Bible contain many political gladiator or nation politics and deals so much in politics,why do our church leaders kept aloof from politics ? The church leaders failed the people here,they divided politics and religion in the church/pulpit. Neglecting politics they strikes to win the human mind where politics and religion meet each other, without politics, its like neglecting half side of the human body.And,neglecting ideas and values.

To awaken our generation/community, preachers must preach politics in the church.Without reforming our politics,religion influence in us will go nowhere, and our community would debase in the future.

Thus partial merger of institutionalised religion and instutionalised politics into a monolithic forum is necessary in our society,it would create a transition situation and would filled that vaccum created between us, by those orthodox different denomination. In practice member/preacher of every church need to associate with those of other to promote/uplift their peoples,class,professional and interest through,say,organisation of workers,occupationalgroups,writers,etc etc.. Why should not the church apply politics and religion in the interest of intellectual freedom of the members and of more abiding basis of its unity. They can be merged into a single monolithic entity without emasculating the church itself….

After speaking out all what she feel she stood there silent:My purpose was not to start this poor suffering childrens and politics to Sylvia but to ask her if she love me or not,on that day I need not ask that question again,when the eyes tell it all then the heart speak out.Then its time we bade a good night kiss..!

Alcoholism-Traditional intact or family harmony

In his work on "Debunking zuu and zou sterotype",David
lalpi[zokuamthawn vol:IV No:9 oct.issue 2006]emphatically said the
words Alcoholism is as extreme as teetotalism".It is extreme indeed.It
is critically in question.Alcoholism need to be analyzed not only from
trditional culture or western culture/society,but from socio-cultural
and economic perspective of the drinker as well.However I am no
scholar to go deep into such sensitive issue.I am constrained to bring
to light some fact on the effects of alcoholism in the larger interest
of society.

In our society an issue like Liquor prohibition will be found both
desirable as well as feasible,but in a real society,not withstanding
the possible calamaties effects of liquor,the issues generates lot of
heat and sweat.One can come across numerous cases where the so called
individual's right to drive has resulted in collapse of family harmony
and health.People resorting to such mean things like
wife-beating,using abusive terms,neglecting children,selling
properties and last but not the least endangering their lives as a
result or cause of liquor addiction are quite common in our
society.Should these people be allowed to encroach upon other's right
to live life harmoniously-however close they might be?
Excess of everything is bad,but drinking of alcohol is completely
different to dringking of other liquid.Alcohol can be addicted,has
numerous very bad affects.The habit of drinking is started out of
individual preference and it can be stop only when one comes to
realise it's repercussions.In a backward society where creating
awareness about the possible repercussion of liquor comsumption was
not upto the mark;The trends of liquor addiction is
increasing/rising.So,it is better for the Missionary or the church
elders to came with the so called Taboo, "don't drink" instead of a
good solution like "drink's moderately".

The Bible offers several very clear perspectives on the subjects of
Alcohol.The Bible explicitly condems Alcohol. "Drunkenness is
condemned in no uncertain terms[proverb.20:1,23:20] and is listed as
evidence of the sinful nature[Gal.5:21]. Paul writes that drunkenness
will not inherit the kingdom of God and issue a straight forward
command "Do not get drunk with wine'[Ephesian.5:18].

To end with alcoholism-the driving social virus of the zo's is
definitely on the rise[zudawn tam deu deu,numei/pasal]Zos society is
on the threshold of transition/reformation the process of which has to
be accelerated at full tilt.Reaffirming our commitment to the
cause,let us strive for the best. And let us remember my Pupu

Communication of ideas has been basic to the very development of civilisation and society.Exchange of thought contributes to the growth of the individual`s personality even it helps him or her to understand the society of which he or she is a part,and,perhaps contributes a little to that society.However,complete freedom of expression has never been entertained in any society.
But no sane person would disagree if one requires freedom of expression to stop short of abusing or maligning any person or community.Some people clings to old beliefs:It gives them a sense of security(?): they look with suspecion on anything that might cause a change.And yet change is essential for a society to be dynamic.Chang can happen in two folds-Push/pull some one or to be push/pull by some one.It is here that our taliban moral police look with suspicion when one talk of change to be pull by someone. With that suspicion some so called thinker or intellectual person started criticism the nationalism view of change and growth without having something positive to offer.
Freedom of expression relates to purveying information(Media) and the creative aspect which involves the expression of an individual ideas. It takes a brave individual to speaks out-pour fresh ideas and views uncaring of consequences on a personal level.
If authority/individual bowed to the wishes of each and every group to ban this or that work because it hurts someone,there would come a time where nothing is worth reading and viewing. Of course,everyone has the right to protest if it feels injuried but it is wrong to insist that its views alone should be given important and anything opposing it should not be expressed. In a broad minded(Nam lunte)class expression of opinion against the pawlpi or nation or its behaviour should be entertained,wheather it is against or in support of any agenda or resolution wheather public can access or not.But in our society there is someone who clings to the ideas that his or her groups alone can decide what is wrong and what is right.They are the true viruse in our nation building policy(Nampi khanmoboh) and they are equally rigid in the view that nobody has a right to question what is held sacred by the leaders/pawlpi or believers...!!!!!!!
In an environment of liberal tolerance there would be freedom of expression for all point of views and room enought for dissent with all oppinions, wheather held by fanatics,intellectuals or the ordinary man from the streets (like myself). The right and wrong of free expression are not absolute.What may be right today or wrong may not be the same tomorrow.Perspective change,social values change: free expression of idea can change those values,and one can only hope the change is for the better.
**There is a small right-wing(say),very conservative,fanatic and communal party in Delhi zou society and they act like the Taliban moral police.They do this kind of things(Personal criticism) quite often.They think they are intellectual leaders but their views or oppinion cannot even penetrate their ethono-centric heart.They shout some small issue for publicity where even the insurgent(ZDV) remain silent.And call their opponent women/pig like the VHP or Bajrang dal even when they lack the courage to come out from their ethono-centric and communal circle. Lamdang...!!!

Barabbas or Jesus ? Pilate asked them,For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.But the chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed. `Barabbas` they answered. This is what had happened in the governor house more than a thousand years ago and happen today here in our everyday life. Thousand of years ago ‘Barabbas’ they chooses and executed Jesus.Today,what should we choose and executed “Barabbas or Jesus…?. Thousand years ago there is the Nicean creeds,a great Constantine empire(Christian empire) in which symbolic shadow we stand today(can be claim), then the crusader follows,all came as a joyous daybreak for the Christian to end the long night of their captivity.
But thousand years later,we still asked for Barabbas and executed Jesus. We still choose to ignore Jesus and dwell in this worldly pleasure-drinks alcohol (wine - beer) partying, and neglected to serve Him.We still buy new Mobile hand-set model,TV set or new clothes instead of paying the tithes. I really wonder how our Church(ZCF) survives with that 28 tithes out of it`s 400 members. Really God works…
The Bible offers several very clear perspectives on the subjects of tithes. It explicitly demands to give to God what is God’s (Mat 22:21) and issue a straight forward command : “Bring the whole tithes into the storehouse..”(Malachi 3:10). God asked us “Will a man rob God..? and said, “yet you rob me,and ask, `How do we rob you ?..” In tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8). And put a great challenges before us `Test me in this`. Yet we may have say, `Why should I give when I can`t even satisfies my self and families..? It is because He paid the price on Good Friday.
“Eloi,eloi lama sabachthani” more than a thousand years ago the son of God cried this painful words in the cross at Golgotha. His mother beneath Him with tears in her eyes looking at her suffering son the Lord,`chimo beidong gimthua a kap` and waiting for her son “siding a laitat”. He paid the price in the most difficult ways and He still bears the burden of humanity,so that we are save and serves him.
In our everyday life,we are making decision and choices.Some as small as they seem,are final,irreversible,and we choose and seal our destiny. Coices that are Barabbas bring trouble,confusion and stress.Right choices bring peace,victory and fullfilment. Remember,there is a price in every decision you make. So, today we are asked that same question “Barabbas or Jesus..?

Filthy dustbin, with the word use me.Even thought it is a simple word, a combination of single verb and corresponding objectives forms of the personal pronouns: it penetrated the deepest shells of my hearts. When I began to think of my life in Delhi- How I spent the day with friends,the night that so call party ,I begin to feel that really I`m a dustbin where all that bad things are disposed off: drinking of alcohol,taking of tobacco eating pan and etc.i just found out ,I`m a lucky guy created for purpose,not an accident as there is no explosion in my stomach after mixing all those chemical.
The head,my brain seem no different with my stomach;thinking of all bad things,ideology,cheating,hate and jealousy moreover no dot size for charity,no intention of reforming mysellf,praying and reading the Bible. Every Sunday I attend the fellowship services just to interact with friends and doing multiple choice exam-like standing on judges stand in Miss.Beauty contest(he..he) and with that true or false exam-she is beautifull yes/no.Or did I really came for the messages.
When I thought of writing something about our jubilee,nothing came out from my brain except the four angels-Shelly,Haute,Vung and Bony. A pretty girls dancing in the stages and praising the lord in the way they are talented.I came to know Zcf silver jubilee is a great success when I count how many coffee,tomato-soup and tea I drink on that day and when I found the diner interesting.The arrangement and performance of everything is good, I found it out as one of the most well organized function in the Zo`s history.But what did I gain for my personal life on the great day.
It was when our Church leader invite Mrs.B.K rose to preach us in our church in connection with our silver jubilee I began to catch one interesting concept i.e "Jesus want to change cloth" my dirty clothes with his dirty clothes.There I see the face of my mother in B.k rose with tear in her eyes for my safety,the face of my father in our church leaders who suffer and sacrifices for my own good so that I can reform,who gave us the same message with my father-to be always good,strong and courageous.
When Mrs.B.K Rose said ‘you are a drunkard druggist, cheater, liar it personally hurt me like pin-pointing me.Then how came after all these dirty thing ‘Jesus still wanted to change my clothes. Even after rejected/neglected by the world still He is there to always love me. I know He doesn`t need my Love, I need His love.He is the one who comfort me,stand tall with me in times of my trouble and suffering.Then why should I still run away from him.A thousand question arise in my heart "Lord,Who am I ? That you care and suffer much for. I promised myself, I wouldn`t dwell on the negative the year has already thrown up,but something just stay with me to keep popping into my head like a recurring nightmare. Like the Zezaw rape(On dec.2006). We`ve woken up to a year that`s already full of dreadful news- that children are no longer safe and care. Especially the poor children.
The Gungal incident(story of naupang Pauminthang) is horrifying in itself. But if we look around,there are hundreds of children sufering from gross-neglect to say the least. In some places NGO are doing all they can to help the underpriviledged children,but the problem is just too large. And the worse still there is not a single NGO machinery in our courtyside, in singngat.
Individually,it`s much worse. None of us knows the first thing about how to help a poor child except to buy them a few Bisuite, mithai and move on. I know how dificult it is.Once I tried to help a 13 years old girl.She was a school drop-out and her 7 year old little sister.We were waiting for our turn in Sipheng lui(singngat) to fill our bucket and pot.She asked me diferent thing about the kolte world.We changes our topic from this and that. Then I asked her why she left school. She look down without with silent ..
Her name was Vavah.When she was better enough to give me the answer,I got atleast three diferent stories about the cause(school drop-out). One time,she said she doesn`t like going to school. I could believe that. The next time,she said there is no money for her schooling. I could believe that too. Yet another story was that her parent just think that education is not for the poor. Yes, I could even believe that.
But which was the true story ?
In my attempt to smother her with attention,so that she must be free to trust and speech, I`d asked her and her small illeterate sister what she`d like me to give her a christmass present. And the answer was always the same. "TOYS" The first time she asked for them, I thought I had heard wrong. I expected her to ask for clothes,snacks and shoes,but no. The little stress-free time she had when she was not working was spent being a child. She just want to play with her friends and her parent is stealing her chilhood. she is like other rich children.,just want to study.
I finanly got the real story from Vavah.There is no money for her education. Her parents cannot afford her education expenditure. When she left school she start helping her parents like- working in the field under the scorching sun,carrying a big pot to fill water,cooking food when her friends are playing,laughing at the ground,gazzing her catlles like buffaloes,cow under the rain in thick forest where snakes,leeches roam etc.- an addiction most poor children suffer.
What happen to Vavah ? I lost her once more to her fate. Why ?Because no conventional system was strong enough to convince her parents to send her back to school or to put it diferently, labour/working is the best option for Vahnu and her poor parent to make their kitchen pot boil. What were the other choices ? Governtment school from my childhood day till today I never find the government school running the class. Orphaned home, where only the rich relative find their place.Mission school for the sake of the church unity. Etc….Temporary helps which by nature arte temporary and offer no roots. Random acts of kindness that we indulge in- we offer them slivers of hope and we are not sure what to do with the poor kids.
Dealing with Vavah was a defeating experience for me. Not because Vavah didn`t went back to school(Nothing positive came out in my attempt), but because after a points, no options attractive enough to convince her parents to send. No immediate plans for rejuvenation and recovery. My reaction to this is-the poor(Zodawn) children need help. But when I think again,it`s not the poor (zodawn),- we need help. We ned maps,money and guideline that will help us help our poor childrens,our poor people in zodawn .
Listen to the cry of these children,they are your children,help them,give them the chance to read,play. Provide them what they deserve.

Jesus, the pope said, "directs our gaze towards all children who suffer and are abused in the world, the born and the unborn. Towards children who are placed as soldiers in a violent world; towards children who have to beg; towards children who suffer deprivation and hunger; towards children who are unloved." As Zomi, we must accept our role not only as benefactors but as part of the problem.
We can choose to ignore the poor suffering children in zodawn or we can make plan sacrificing what we are going to benefits ,Or we can accept the responsibilities that accompany our position in the order and use our economic and political might in pursuit of justice for our most vulnerable citizens, those zodawn childrens
